She wanted the "advanced" stuff

Hey, It's Ramon —

Every Sunday I teach a group pickleball class here at our house… it’s one of the things that brings me joy.

In that class, we drill the fundamentals in one shot for about 45 minutes, then play for the last 30.

About 10 minutes in, one of the women looks at me and goes, "Ramon, I already know how to do this… I want the advanced stuff."

I tried to explain that what separates beginners from good players from great players… are fundamentals. Exactly what we’re practicing.

She wasn't buying it. "Yeah, I've done all this before. I'm ready for the advanced techniques."

I’ve been down this road before…

So I smiled and said, "Totally. Maybe catch the advanced class next time." (She will probably not be back. God bless her.) :)

But I've been thinking about it all day, because she's not really talking about pickleball.

She's all of us.

Here's the deal.

Everybody wants the advanced manifestation techniques The 4th-dimensional download that finally cracks it all open.

And what actually works are “the basics”.

1. Regulate the nervous system.

2. Catch the beliefs that say: you're not worthy, it’s too hard, things are going wrong, etc….

3. Act on what excites you most, do it as well as you can, with no insistence on the outcome

That's it. That's the “advanced” stuff.

I know how that sounds.

But watch what your body does when I say "just do the simple thing."

It goes "yeah yeah, Ramon I know that already, I’m outta here" and immediately starts shopping for something DIFFERENT.

Your nervous system reaches for complexity because the simple work is the exposed work.

If it really is this simple, there's no more hiding behind "I just haven't found the right technique yet."

You'd have to actually let the life in.

And a life your body doesn't recognize yet reads as danger. Every time.

So off we go, hunting for the advanced class. Feels productive. And it changes nothing.

The simplest truth is usually the one we walk right past, because it doesn't give us anywhere to hide.

Work with the fundamentals, and your life will become an ecstatic explosion of synchronicity :).
